“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”
Matthew 11:28–30
We’ve been taught the importance of bible reading or prayer, for instance, yet we may not have many tools or training to do these things well. For many of us, spending time in God’s presence has felt more like homework than a real life-giving relationship.
For many of us, it can actually feel quite confusing: How do you build a real relationship with a God whom you can’t see? I mean, it's not like you can just invite Jesus over for a cuppa joe and ask him all of your burning questions, can you?
Developing a real relationship with God is similar and different than developing any other kind of relationship with another person. There are things that we’ve got to learn to put into practice if we want any relationship to grow deeper, to become more authentic and intimate. This page includes practical resources about how each of us can actually develop a real and experiential relationship with God. These messages and videos give an in-depth look at the practices of Jesus, and the practices of the early church mothers and fathers, and we are going to invite one another to begin to incorporate these practices into our lives.
