Katie is our compassion ministries director here at the Vineyard. She oversees our Fruit of the Vine Food Shelf, Clothing Closet, and other ministries that bring the compassion of Jesus to those in need right here in the Twin Ports. Katie graduated from college with a B.A in Communication Studies with aspirations of working in human services or the nonprofit sector after graduation. During her time in college, she got connected with a Vineyard church near her college town and was captivated by the way that the Vineyard movement connected experiencing God to living an outward-focused, compassionate life as we are transformed by his love ourselves. After graduating in December of 2014, Katie moved to Duluth and joined our staff as an administrative assistant, and transitioned to the role of compassion ministries director in 2017. Katie loves seeing the lives of guests transformed every week in the food shelf as they experience the compassion of Jesus. She loves working with a stellar team of volunteers who are not only committed to feeding the hungry, but also building friendships with the guests and sharing with them the love of Jesus that changes lives! When Katie is not at the Vineyard, she can be found hitting the books for her Masters in Nonprofit Management or on any hiking trail with her husband James and her fiercely adorable dog Nugget. She also enjoys playing the piano, reading, and talking with anyone who will listen to her about feminism.
