Natalie is our compassion ministries director here at the Vineyard. She oversees our Fruit of the Vine Food Shelf, Clothing Closet, and other ministries that bring the compassion of Jesus to those in need right here in the Twin Ports. She’s also the administrative assistant to Brian Brinkert, who oversees Hospitality and Small Groups. Natalie couldn’t have planned it better if she tried to have this mix of responsibilities at the Vineyard that so clearly line up with the things she feels passionate about. Natalie came on staff in 2018 as an intern for Heroic Leadership Institute and transitioned to Administrative Assistant in 2019. She found that not only does she love adjusting spreadsheets and other nerdy administrative tasks, but that her heart is incredibly bent toward doing ministry. She was astounded by the way the Vineyard teaches, trains, disciples, and loves people and wanted to be a part of it.
When she was able to take on the role of Interim Food Shelf Director in the Winter of 2019, she became humbled by how much there is to learn and fell in love with the community through hearing the stories and experiences of the guests and volunteers at the food shelf. She knew that working in spheres of Social Justice was always something she’d wanted to do, so when the position for Compassion Ministries Director became available in 2020 it seemed to line up perfectly. Being able to love people by meeting their practical needs first and show them the generous heart of God, regardless of where they come from and what they’ve been through, is Natalie’s favorite part about the food shelf. And she loves bringing people into that and watching them grow. When she’s not at the Vineyard, you can find her in drinking all the local coffee, playing music, or enjoying the gorgeous nature here in Duluth.
